Q: Using an Internal Mail Server
A:

To setup an internal mail server with your UCVHost account, you must have a permanent connection to the internet and a permanent IP address on the mail server.

If you host DNS for the domain with UCVHost:
To route mail to your internal mail server, you will need to send us the mx record you want updated , and we will do so in your zone file.

If you host your DNS elsewhere:
To route mail to your internal mail server, you will need to set up a subdomain for it, such as mail.domain.name, and point it to the IP address of your mail server. Then you will need to point the MX record for your domain to that subdomain.

If your mail server is behind a firewall, you must make sure that SMTP connections to the server are possible across the firewall.
