Set up Dreamweaver's FTP Tools

  1. In the Site menu, click on New Site.

  2. Fill in the local information for your web site by entering the directory where your web site is stored on your computer.

  3. In the Site Name box, type in a name to recognize your newly created FTP session. You can type in the name of your site, your domain name, or anything else that would help you to recognize it.

  4. In the Local Root Folder box, specify the directory where you are keeping your web site files.

  5. In the http address box, type in the domain name of your web site, i.e. "yourdomain.com". You can leave the "www" out of your domain, if you want.

  6. In the Category section in the left, click on Web Server Info.

  7. In the Server Access menu, click on FTP.

  8. The Hostname is the hostname sent to you by UCVHost when your account was activated. The Login and Password were also included in this letter.

  9. Click Done, and you will be ready to transfer files to your site.

  10. To connect to the FTP server, from the Site menu, select Connect.

  11. When you connect, the window will split into two sections, Remote Site and Local Folder. Remote Site on the left contains a listing of the files on your server, and Local Folder contains the files on your computer. This is where you can upload and download files.
